Maine Cannabis Seeds: The ABC’s of Buying Marijuana Seeds

On November 8, 2016, Maine voters passed legislation that made it the eighth state to legalize adult-use marijuana. That meant that cannabis was now approved for recreational use, retail sale and taxation.

Are you a resident of The Pine Tree State, looking to get your hands on some of the best Maine cannabis seeds around?

If so, you’re in luck.

Today, we’re taking a look at what’s permitted in the state, how much you can grow, the kind of seeds to buy and which strains to choose for the best effect.

Ready to learn more? Let’s get started.

Are Marijuana Seeds Legal in Maine?

As mentioned, adult-use cannabis is legal in Maine. This means you can possess up to 2.5 ounces of marijuana or up to 2.5 ounces of marijuana and marijuana concentrate without any associated penalty. The same applies if you possess five or fewer grams of marijuana concentrate.

What about cultivation? If you want to grow your own crop, how much can you grow?

According to Maine law, an adult resident is permitted to cultivate the following:

Up to three flowering marijuana plants

12 immature marijuana plants

An unlimited number of seedlings

In addition, you’re allowed to keep all of the marijuana that your plants produce as your possession. You can also purchase and use cannabis seeds in the state of Maine.

How is this legal?

The answer lies in how the seeds are classified. Cannabis seeds are considered a souvenir item in the state, so you’re free to have them delivered right to your doorstep without a penalty or fine. When you’re ready to stop relying on local dispensaries to take care of your needs and you want to put the growing power right in your own hands, you need access to the best cannabis seeds on the market.

That’s where we come in.

Our online shop is chocked full of top-level cannabis seeds designed to meet a range of needs, conditions, preferences, and tastes. Yet, before you can reap the benefits of these seeds, you have to plant them first! Let’s take a look at how to cultivate and transplant the ones you receive.

How Do I Cultivate Cannabis Seeds?

When you buy cannabis seeds from us, you’re getting some of the top, highest-quality strains on the market. As such, we’re proud to stand behind our product and offer an 80% germination guarantee on all of our seeds. This means that if you follow our cultivation directions precisely and your seeds fail to germinate, we’ll send you enough replacement seeds to equal an 80% germination rate.

Still, this shouldn’t be an issue if you’re careful to follow all of the below steps as closely as possible.

The Step-by-Step Germination Process

First, pour all of your cannabis seeds into a cup of room-temperature distilled water. You can push them to the bottom to make sure they’re covered all the way. Then, let them soak for 14 to 18 hours.

In the meantime, fold a dye-free paper towel and position it in the middle of a plate. When the soaking time is up, pour the entire contents of the cup (water included) on top of the paper towel. Then, fold the paper towel over the seeds to cover them.

Allow the seeds to remain covered for anywhere between two and seven days, or until they crack open and you see a small taproot forming. The key to creating an ideal growing environment at this time is to keep the paper towel consistently moist. Spray it with water if you notice it’s drying out.

Once the taproot forms, let it grow to up to 3/4 of an inch before transplanting! If yours never sprout a taproot, it could be that they dried out too much. As an emergency effort, you can drop them back into a cup of distilled water and let them soak until a taproot forms. Then, repeat the same steps above, transplanting once the taproot reaches 1/2 of an inch long.

If you have any unused seeds left over after this process, be sure to store them in a cool, dark, dry spot. If they’re kept in a sealed container in this environment, they can last up to five years. However, keep in mind that their germination rate can drop as time goes by.

Need to restock? We’ll take care of you!

What Kinds of Cannabis Seeds Should I Buy?

Are you looking for a subdued, relaxed high that’s perfect for quelling anxiety and keeping stress at bay? If so, an Indica strain is ideal. We offer a vast inventory of these seeds, including well-known “kush” varieties!

These are great for nighttime indulging and offer incredible pain-relieving qualities. However, keep in mind that if you suffer from bipolar disorder or chronic depression, they aren’t the best fit.

On the other hand, are you looking for a more energizing high that will keep you buzzed throughout the day?

In this case, a Sativa strain is best. These plants are ideal for everyday smoking, although they aren’t ideal for those who already suffer from anxiety or insomnia. Feel free to browse our wide selection of Sativa strains if this is right up your alley!

Want the greatest variety for your buck? Check out our hybrid strains that combine the best of both worlds!

These have mixed components of both Indica and Sativa strains and they’re perfect to use both day and night. The best part? They’re also easier to grow thanks to their unique composition. Their high survival rates and natural genetic stability make them go-to seeds for first-timers still turning their black thumb green.

Some of the most popular kinds of hybrid seeds we offer include:

Best Mango CBD Feminized

CBD Sour Lemon Feminized

CBD Tijuana Feminized

Rosetta Stone Regular

Neville’s Haze Regular

While these are some of our highest-rated strains, they’re far from the only ones. Feel free to shop around and choose the varieties that sound the best to you!

What Autoflower Strains Are Perfect for Maine?

Looking to start your cannabis crop as quickly and successfully as possible? Of course, you are!

That’s why it’s smart to look for auto-flowering seeds, especially if you’re just getting your feet wet. Though these will yield a shorter crop than other strains, they also flower much more quickly. For example, a standard Indica strain will flower around seven to nine weeks after germination while a Sativa strain will do so after about 10 to 16 weeks.

An autoflower strain, however, will take only a fraction of this time. And, though the plants will only grow to reach two to three feet tall, you’ll be able to fit more of them into a small space. This expands your growing capacity and allows you to cultivate a larger crop at the end of the day!

You can find auto-flowering seeds in a variety of strains. Some of the most well-known and beloved ones in our shop include:

Auto Gorilla Glue #4 Feminized

Auto Zkittlez Feminized

Auto White Widow Crystal Meth Feminized

Auto Sweet Tooth Feminized

Auto Northern Lights X Big Bud Feminized

Auto Jack Herer Feminized

Auto Critical Fast Bud Feminized

Auto White Widow Feminized

Browse our full selection and take advantage of this beginner-friendly option! You’ll notice that many of these strains contain CBD, making them ideal for medicinal use, as well. We also carry autoflower strains that are high in THC. These make great edibles and concentrates!

Exciting medical marijuana news

Cannabis research is making strides as scientists strive to cure numerous neurodegenerative diseases, including Parkinson’s disease and Multiple Sclerosis, or MS. The Clinical Neuropharmacology medical journal recently released enlightening study results that show the way that smoked cannabis positively affects Parkinson’s patients. The clinical study was not conclusive, but did indicate that smoked cannabis may indeed improve Parkinson’s symptoms such as tremors, pain, edginess and muscle stiffness. In addition, the study concluded that inhaled marijuana helps Parkinson’s patients sleep better and feel less depressed, reports BigBuds magazine.

Parkinson’s Disease is a malady that mostly affects people who are 50 years of age or older. Not everyone stricken with PD is that old, however. The late heavyweight boxer, Muhammad Ali, was in his early 40s when he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s after a long career in boxing. Actor Michael J. Fox was diagnosed at the tender age of 30. If cannabis proves to be a cure for neurodegenerative illnesses, it will spell good news for many people and their loved ones.

More research is needed, of course. Nonetheless, it is already known that cannabis and CBD may serve as a muscle relaxer, antispasmodic and analgesic. The wonder weed may be an effective neurological restorer, as well. Why does it work? Researchers a re excited to find out if it’s true that cannabinoids have neuroprotective properties that may limit or even reverse neural degeneration. Even if cannabis only slows the progression of these awful conditions, it must be considered pretty good medicine. Medicine you can grow with products from a Maine seed bank, or ours.
